Citizens for
global solutions salutes incoming congressional black caucus leadership
Citizens for Global Solutions congratulates the newly elected leadership of the
Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) for the 110th Congress. Congresswoman Carolyn
Kilpatrick (D-MI 13) was elected as the incoming Chair of the CBC, succeeding
Mel Watt (D-NC 12). By her side will be Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA 09)
and Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO 05), serving as 1st and 2nd Vice Chairs, respectively.
Rounding out the leadership team will be Representative Danny Davis (D-IL 07) as
secretary and Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX 18) as Whip.
Citizens for Global Solutions applauds such fine globally-minded leaders at the
head of this important caucus. In its 2006
Congressional Report Card, Citizens for Global Solutions awarded
Representatives Kilpatrick and Lee each a grade of A. Representatives Cleaver,
Davis, and Jackson-Lee each received an A+ for their commitment to a belief that
nations best solve global problems by working together to find global solutions.
Through its nonpartisan political action committee, Global Solutions PAC,
Citizens for Global Solutions endorsed all five of these leaders for reelection
in 2006. Additionally, the PAC contributed to Congressman Cleaver’s campaign, as
it had done during his first run for federal office in 2004.
Citizens for Global Solutions, via its staff in DC and its members across the
country, looks forward to working with these leaders on the many issues that
will greet the 110th Congress that starts in January 2007.
