Richard Lugar
R-IN

A true statesman, Senator Richard Lugar frequently steps above the partisan fray to offer leadership on the role of the U.S. in the world. A leader of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Lugar has been a long-time advocate of internationalism. He has stood strong on nonproliferation issues with former Senator Sam Nunn (D-GA) and current Senator Barack Obama (D-IL). He also cosponsored climate change legislation with Senator Joe Biden (D-DE). Citizens for Global Solutions has worked with Senator Lugar as he advocated for ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty.

Patricia Madrid
D-NM-1

Patricia Madrid is running against Representative Heather Wilson (R) in the 1st Congressional District in New Mexico. Currently the Attorney General, Ms. Madrid is devoted to important global issues such as climate change, alternative energy, development aid and international cooperation. Citizens for Global Solutions' Annual Meeting 2005 was held in Representative Wilson's district , where we heard local voices crying out for a change in this seat, and calling for someone to address global health issues and more U.S. cooperative engagement with the world, values we all share.

Claire McCaskill
D-MO

Claire McCaskill is currently State Auditor in Missouri and she is challenging incumbent Senator Jim Talent (R) in November. She strongly believes in addressing climate change and promoting alternative energy sources. She backs a cooperative U.S. foreign policy and plans to work on global health issues when she comes to Washington. Her opponent has continuously performed poorly on Citizens for Global Solutions' issues during his time in the U.S. Senate. Let’s send someone to complement the strong global voices from the Missouri delegation to Congress, including Representative Lacy Clay (D-MO 01), Russ Carnahan (D-MO 03), and Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO 05).

Jerry McNerney
D-CA-11

Among the worst Members of Congress on global and domestic issues is incumbent Representative Richard Pombo (R) from California’s 11th District. Running against him this fall is Jerry McNerney, a businessman who understands the importance of alternative energy and the impact of climate change on the United States and the world. In addition to Citizens for Global Solutions' endorsement, Mr. McNerney just received the endorsement of Pete McCloskey, a Republican who ran against Mr. Pombo in the June Republican primary. Let’s swap Pombo for McNerney come November!

Betty Sutton
D-OH-13

Betty Sutton (D) is running against Craig Foltin (R) for an open House seat in Ohio. Mr. Foltin has repeatedly declined to answer our Candidate Questionnaire regarding his stance on our issues. Ms. Sutton, when asked about foreign policy, remarked that the U.S. should operate as a part of the international community, not solely on its own. Ms. Sutton believes in tackling global health concerns, addressing climate change, and working with the United Nations on peacekeeping and other matters — all important issues for Citizens for Global Solutions supporters!

Jim Webb
D-VA

Jim Webb is running against incumbent George Allen for U.S. Senate in Virginia. Senator Allen has been horrible on our issues, getting D’s on our last two Congressional Report Cards. What makes this race most critical? Senator Allen sits on the Foreign Relations Committee, one of the key Congressional committees that Citizens for Global Solutions works with! As U.S. Senator, Jim Webb will: Support working with the ICC to investigate crimes in Sudan, Uganda and the Congo; work to ensure international organizations have the resources they need to keep global diseases at bay; and invest in renewable technologies for energy.
