JOIN A LOCAL CHAPTER

Citizens for Global Solutions has chapters in over 40 communities throughout the United States. If you live in or near any of these communities and you become a member of Citizens for Global Solutions, you automatically become a member of your community's chapter.

Now, you may ask yourself: "What's the point of local chapters and am I obligated to do anything if I join one?" Chapter's allow members in any given community a way to communicate and mobilize around issues and actions. For example, if you wanted to ask your mayor to sign on to the Urban Environmental Accords, an initiative in which mayor's  from around the world are committing to fight global climate change, your chapter could work on this together as a group of committed community members. Like the saying goes: Power in numbers! And no, as a member of your local chapter, you are not obligated to participate in chapter projects.

No chapter in your community? learn how to start one

If there is no local chapter in your area and you'd like to start one, we are more than happy to help you get started! All you need is:

• A designated chapter chair and at least one other officer

• At least three additional members participating at the minimum level (defined below)

• To meet at least four times per year (this can include Partner teleconferences)

• To carry out at least four political or media actions per year (this can include printed letters to the editor)

• To report to the national office at least six times per year (preferably through monthly reports or group leader calls)

Your chapter will receive $600 per year to help offset chapter operating costs. In addition, your chapter will be eligible to participate in Citizens for Global Solutions grant program, in which chapters can apply for up to $2,500 per year in support of special projects.
