Julia Fitzpatrick
Scoville Peace Fellow

Julia joined Citizens for Global Solutions in September 2006 as a Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellow in the Programs Department. She works in the Peace and Security Program on Darfur, peacekeeping issues, and the Peacebuilding Commission.

Julia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in May 2006 with a B.A. in Political Science and International Peace Studies. While at Notre Dame, Julia focused much of her academic work on Arabic, Middle Eastern studies and U.S. foreign policy. She wrote her senior thesis on the role of U.S. foreign policy in democratization processes in the Arab Middle East. Julia studied abroad during the Spring of 2005 in Cairo, Egypt at the American University in Cairo under the auspices of the David L. Boren National Security Education Program and also interned with Catholic Relief Services in Cairo.  Though she has studied both French and Arabic for many years and loves languages, she yearns for the day when she can hold an intelligent conversation for more than 15 minutes in Arabic. Julia is originally from the Detroit, MI area.
